Core Strength Training For Baseball Pitchers
from:by Scott Mathewson
Aside from having the right baseball glove and bat, your Core Strength for Playing Baseball is very important to determine how successful and healthy you are. The fact that you use rotation in Hitting and Throwing and other baseball movements core strength plays a vital role in how successful you are on the field.
Developing your Core strength should be tailored to your specific sport. There is no point in building muscles that help you in other sports. In baseball and softball you should focus on rotational exercises because all your baseball and softball motions include rotations. When hitting a moving object you are required to rotate your core to make contact. The power you generate comes from your leg drive and the strength of your body. By adding weight training such as a medicine ball you can increase strength, flexibility and performance.
Pitchers need to take a little different route, their muscles should be long and loose. If a pitcher does the wrong weight lifting and training it could effect him negatively. A pitcher cannot lose flexibility because this ultimately means he loses velocity. This is a list of activities that a pitcher should follow weekly.
